As a kid, life to me was spelled h-o-r-s-e. I thought there was nothing else that I could be passionate about – ever. But lo and behold, in my 40’s I discovered non-profit work and have never looked back. There was also this little combined stint of at-home parenting and grad school. I do not recommend combining those things, but we got through it as a family.
Working with a horse teaches things that cannot be learned any other way. If you learn to see the world through their eyes, you have a roadmap for dealing with people that will not steer you wrong. In general, whoever you cross paths with will end up the better for it. If you learned well.
Having worked with horses, become a wife and a mom, earned a MA in Communication, and now serving as grant writer for a food bank like no other…I call that a blessed life, indeed. God is good, all the time.
